I write a lot about “me-too services” and the ways new companies can avoid being pigeonholed as copycats. So, here’s yet another photo-sharing service. As an avid Flickr user, my first instinct when I visited was to move on. However, 1000 Memories’ prominent sales pitch drew me in. If you read yesterday’s Site of the Day, you’ll recall that Quarterly.co took the opposite approach, which makes for a nice contrast to today’s featured website. Here, the bold sales pitch communicates quickly and effectively, so I realized this isn’t another Flickr—it’s just different enough that I should pay attention. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the overall style is smooth and simply gorgeous.
